I Am Rethinking Possible...

We are constantly shown our limitations are self imposed. For where there is a will, there is a way, or as the at&t commercial says it, "Take the limits off possibility, and rethink possible". 
Family I am at it again. 


My last few days have been phenomenal. August 31, 2011; I meet a boy wearing no shoes, confused as to which foot they belonged. He carried his shoes in his hands and asked which foot they should go on. Switch them around I said.  He sat on the ground, and fastens his Velcro straps. A conversation ensued He was six years old in first grand and did not know how to tie his shoes. 


Being the teacher I am (no degree, just born to be) I asked, “Did you go to school today?” “Yep” was his reply… I asked about his homework and first he said he had none, but with a little cajoling he changed his mind and said he had two sentences to write. 


This story is long and so I will not prolong your time. I will simply say that young child reignited a fire in me, and I began to rethink possible. Thus I called a friend and shared my vision; and she created a flyer for me and I made 100 copies. The very next day I passed them out throughout the community. September 1, that very same day, I received a call, inquiring about the flyer… 


Well y’all Monday September 12th, I will begin my new tutoring services, from which I plan to create a business. Just yesterday I was donated notebooks and binders, and a friend called offering free desk, the old fashion kind. I have created my own business cards and printed up 100.

Reparations

In religion we are made to believe we are responsible for the sins of Adam,
thus we are born in sin and shaped in iniquity.  On the other hand, when asking for reparations of Black/Native Americans,(equal opportunities under the law, free legitimate education, free legitimate health care, non-predatory affordable housing and land…) mankind is suddenly no longer responsible for the sins of the father, and economic freedom has yet to ring, for generations of generations of Black/Native American People.

Conqueror… Yes, I am truly a conqueror…

As I reminisce, through the corridors of my life,

I realize I have always been the conqueror, conquering even when I felt the victim.

I am the victor, never surrendering to being a victim of circumstance, ignorance or trite behavior.

I have come to realize, I am the heroine in my story and the heroine cannot be destroyed.

Don't mark them with an F...

Every felon should not be penalized, ostracized and marked with and F...
Many of our men are charged with Felonies due to child support issues, not because they are no good fathers and dead beat dads, but simply because life happens...
Take for instance a Brother who is the sole support of his family... his mother dies; his father suffers a stroke, and his company down sizes offering only part-time work... These events occur within a ten day window of time... In the quake of these traumas this Brother puts off child-support to bury his mother, afford medication for his father, down sizes his livelihood to fit the circumstances of his employment... he never once cease to care for his child, although he does not pay the money to the courts for child support. Four months pass, he's attempting to catch up just as he's being picked up and charged... with a Felon.  He was behind.... Four-hundred ($400.00) dollars behind, and he is thrown in jail, charged with a Felony, held for 90 days, losses his job, can't be hired by many companies due to his felony status. Don't mark them with failure with felonious felonies you are playing with the future of their offspring...

No not every Felon should be penalized, ostracized and marked with an F.

Forgot

Tagged in a note began to read, phone rang, conversation deep, an IM, a post, a inbox note... now two hours have passed and what I started at first I'm doing last, but again the phone rings, the door bell chimes, sit down, talk, forgot the person on the line. House is clear again but now I forgot where I began.

Sista Thought... Knowing & Belief

Belief must eventually graduate to knowing, and knowing only comes by experience.  To be taught a thing and never experience it, only allows for belief.  Truth is not formed in belief, it's formed in knowing.  To believe without prof is believing someone else's truth.

Can we LOVE to hard?

No, we cannot love to hard, if love is unconditional...

Yes, we really do need a different approach... our children are failing and dropping out... at an astronomical rate.   Our cookie cutter, one size fits all education is not working.  We need to revamp the educational system... test our children for their proficiency, and educate accordingly… more apprenticeships, and trade-school programs… bring back junior achievement for financial learning… teach financing and budgeting along with our abc’s and 123’s…   in my opinion year round school also teaches disciple and dedication… other than accounting, and education, what job gives you three months off, and expects you to work at your fullest potential, without losing a step?

The person who treats you unkind, ruthless, and disrespectful, is just as much a part of your evolution of growth and development, as those whom treat you with loving kindness, tender mercies, and compassion.  We draw to us what we need in order to grow… What lessons do you need to learn?  Look around and examine the folks you have drawn, good, bad, happy, sad, or indifferent...  These people are your life lessons and you are theirs. 

Obedience is better than Sacrifice...

Sacrifice done in obedience, is not painful, if pain is involved, it is due to our own fear and unwillingness to let go... Sacrifice done in obedience, has its own reward... and because we know there is a reward, we give cheerfully, for we know, nothing is lost.  Be a cheerful giver, with understanding and knowing you will be rewarded with greater good.  Sacrifice without obedience, is like fasting, it is uncomfortable to those whose minds stay solely on their lack or loss.  Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice, for in obedience there is a reward... and in sacrifice there is but fear and pain.

Betrayal...

The greatest betrayal is not the betrayal of others.
The greatest betrayal is the betrayal of self, for when we betray ourselves; we leave an opening for others to betray us. 

I was asked to Explain

Betrayal is overriding the voice within, the voice that says, don’t turn right, turn left, don’t sit down, run.  When we are given heartfelt commands, urgings from the soul, and then refuse to walk there in, we betray ourselves, and therefore allow others to betray us…  There is an example given in the bible, of a young prophet, betrayed by an older prophet… The younger prophet was told by GOD, to neither eat or drink, nor return the way he came.  Yet, by the lies of an older prophet he was swayed, betrayed.

It is the weaknesses of our own flesh, which betrays us first, leaving the door open for others to betray us.  It is the need to trust others before we trust ourselves (thus the voice of our soul) which leads us on the road to death.

Take heed to the food U eat, The water U drink, and the air U breathe

This is not the first time this has happen... I lived in Arkansas 9.5 years...

In 1998 something similar happen, but it didn't get national attention, actually it barely received local attention...
That year, I had a regular workout routine, riding my bike fourteen miles a day... on the back roads of rural Arkansas... Seven miles to the next town and back... This road was limited to Combines, Tractors and other farm equipment, so not to impede the flow of the main highway... Although the main hwy shortened the distance between towns by 3.5 miles, it was not safe for bicyclers, skaters, and farm equipment, due to 18-wheelers and double wide carriers...
Anywhoooo... As I was saying this same occurrence took place in 1998...
I was riding my bike one morning, my usual Monday, Wednesday and Friday routine. As I approached the bridge, leading to the next town, I could smell a really foul odor... My first thought was a dead dog... The county was good at not picking up dead animals in a timely manner...
The closer I drew to the bridge the odor grew more pungent and I realized it could not be a dog.   Fear struck me, what if it’s a person?… Now on the bridge, I climbed off my bike to peer over the edge… and what I saw shocked me… from one side of the bridge to the other, laid there in the creek, were hundreds of hundreds of dead fish as far as the eye could see, and all along the banks were dead birds…
I should have realized it was particularly quiet on my ride that morning, no birds chirping, merely still silence, with exception for the main hwy traffic in the distance… Frighten to go further… I turned around and returned home…
Before that day, I fished in that creek regularly; afterwards, I never did again…
I ask the biology teacher at the local college I was attending at the time, what would cause such a thing… His response was, “Perhaps, the local fishermen shocked the water, to bring the catfish to the top” (which is illegal).
Long Story short, I never learned the truth… but this incident in BEBEE, ARKANSAS seems very similar, and someone truly needs to get to the bottom of this… because those folks live and die eating that fish, drink that water, and breathing that air.

My New Year's Resolution 2011 (Sista)

My New Year’s Resolution, I will laugh 10 x more this year than last year; I will hug 9 x more, flirt 8 x more and celebrate life 7 x more this year than last year. I will tell Family & Friends “I LOVE U” 6 x more this year than last year; I will pray and meditate 5 x more, and attend 4 more social events this year than last year, hopefully with a date… (Any Takers?) This year I will spend 3 more days per week in the gym, than last year, I will travel 2 more destinations this year than last year and last but not least I will finish writing 1 book more than last year…
