THE BIBLE reads, “No Good Thing Dwells in the Flesh” (Romans 7:18-20) I Beg to Differ.
There was a time in my life I based my faith solely on the book we call THE BIBLE, and in the ministers whom preached it. My self-esteem was feeble, my behavior passive, and the more I studied this book we call THE BIBLE, the more I became confused. This book, THE BIBLE and it’s interpretations in the mouth of ministers, clashed with my logical reasoning, and understanding of my creator. In many cases biblical teachings were in total opposition to that which I knew to be GOD, spirit, life, and truth. By age twenty-eight, religion had became such a burden, I thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I laid aside the book, THE BIBLE, which I had studied diligently since the age of 9, reading twelve times through between ages 12 and 24. After an intellectual meltdown of biblical proportion; at age 29 I began to commune with nature. In nature, I better understood creation and the essence of the creator. By thirty I completely dropped the practice of religion altogether, but not the study of THE BIBLE nor other religious and spiritual text. My slogan became, “There are many truths in the bible, but not all the bible is true”. I later revised it too, “There are many algorithmic allegories of truth in THE BIBLE, once we get beyond the division of religion”.
My history; I was raised in church, and in a family of Preachers, Religious Teachers, Ministers, and Evangelist. My earliest memories of church were intricately woven with fear and bewilderment. I questioned constantly, but was told, “We do not question GOD and we do not lean on our own understanding.” Thus, I read THE BIBLE with an insatiable desire to know GOD for myself. I listen intently to stories in Sunday school, and in bible classes. I had many favorite tales such as Namaan and Gehazi (2Kings 5) or Joshua and the people of Gibeon (Joshua 9) and many favorite characters such as Enoch, Elijah, Elisha and Peter. I wanted to walk as Enoch walked with GOD and was no more for GOD took him. I wanted miraculous manifestations to follow me as they did Elijah and Elisha and Peter. I desired to be so scripturally sound that folks would be healed as a result of my words or deeds. Like Peter, I wanted folks to walk into my shadow and be healed.
From age nine to twelve, I attended Christian school; my day began and ended with biblical studies. We had weekly assemblies steeped in biblical lore and metaphor. I passed religious studies with constant ‘A’s… but basic reading, spelling, and arithmetic, I was failing miserably, and somehow, despite my grades in basic education, I became a word smith. I learned words have power, and with my trusty dictionary, I used my words well; so well, I could agree without actually agreeing. I could say a thing without saying a thing. With my words I could dodge the bullets, of direct questions pertaining to my faith; thus giving the appearance of conformity, without conforming.
I learned the ways of Christianity well; knowing all the adequate quotes, and delivering all the adequate responses. Don’t get me wrong, I was in it to win it, because we all know ninety-nine and a half won’t do. But as time passed and my studies continued I realized what I sought was not in church, religion, or Christianity. What I sought was and had always been inside of me; yet I continued to wear the continence of Christianity until I had the strength to stand in my truth. Today I boldly proclaim, I am not a Christian, I follow no religious affiliation. I simply seek and follow truth wherever it is found. Today, I am a freer being living in knowledge with understanding. Religion says, there is no good thing in the flesh, but I beg to differ; for within me, within this flesh called Sista/Kim, dwells the essence of my creator and all the possibilities the creator has bestowed in me and to me, this is a good thing. Sometimes we stumble;
Sometimes faith is betrayed;
Sometimes the mistakes we make
are the stones it takes, to build a pathway to the person we will be. Remember we are ever becoming.

Wisdom is the prerequisite of perfecting love,
Truth is the prerequisite of revealed wisdom,
If there is no truth, there is no perfecting love.
Seek truth, wisdom and love will follow.

"When I fall, whether I be friend or foe, stretch forth, help me, dust me off, and send me on my way in love." Yes, Love... The action that surpasses all understanding... The force, that creates forgiveness, in the mist of derision. The virtue, that gives all fallen souls the ability to journey on... and to the sender (the forgiver who's been wronged) the ability to heal, and also grow on.

Every Today was once a Tomorrow,
Every Tomorrow will become Today…
What will you do Today, to influence your Tomorrow?

Turn down the thermostat! Stop expelling valuable energy! Winterize your heart! Insulate the warmth of your spirit, and conserve yourself (your being) for those who acknowledge your wroth.

My thought for today is a reflection of something my mother always said, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and well meaning people, who never got around to proving the thoughts of their heart". (February 6, 2010)

To be unpredictable, for some is a challenge of intellect.
To be conventional, for some is deifying creativity.
To be absolutely unique, is a freedom we all seek, at various levels. (February 27, 2010)
We view photo's, we read blogs and status', we agree or disagree, we like or dislike, we study, examine and respond, based on our perceptions of what we believe is communicated and revealed, What you see is not always what you get.
There are times we should use our prudent minds, to take another look, there could be more than what meets the eye.

Many of us read to locate, take note of, or memorize, that which has been taught unto us. Some of us study to gather information of that which is written, and has been taught unto us, with no intention of questioning its validity.
Others of us locate, take note of, memorize, gather information and are able to rightly divide the written and spoken word, which has been taught unto us, and there confirming or denying its validity. Wisdom is seeking beyond what is taught or understood, to affirm truth.

We are taught in childhood, not to question, our parents, our elders, and those deemed to have religious authority over us... We are not to lean to our own understandings, and if we find ourselves of another opinion, we are told it is the devil. Therefore withstanding our failure, our unwillingness, our fear to question, that which is questionable, we adhere to a belief passed down but never scrutinize by those we looked to for guidance. We pledge servitude to a belief we ourselves struggle to comprehend, and in so doing, we vaguely acknowledge the God-ness, the creative force within ourselves… (Greater is he that is within U than he that is in the world. (The world meaning, outside of U.)

Misery loves company, and hurt people hurt people. If folks fail to take the time needed to heal, they will always repeat the cycle of pain. I have found love means different things to different folks, so we must find our definition of love, and apply it as we await the arrival of that mate, whom shares the same definition of love as ourselves.

Love at first, second or third sight is possible.
For U determine the love u will give...
U determine the barriers or limitations U will set.
We don't love because we think others will love us,
We love because we so desire to do so,
Despite whether we are loved in return.
Love at first sight simply means I choose to love this person despite their willingness or lack thereof to love me back...
I will love without seeking a return...
I Love u because I can.
